A self taught artist, Jesse Xavier Ruiz finds inspiration behind his work in art, music, architecture, and everyday life. Born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Jesse lived in Southern California before moving New York City in 2006. It was in 2008 that he picke d up his first paintbrush and began to create. Certain art periods which have influenced his style are Cubism, Futurism, Surrealism, Impressionism, Dada, and Action Art.

The work of Jesse Xavier Ruiz is based on the idea of interconnectedness. By merging the background and foreground into a singular plane, simplifying and abstracting his shapes, Jesse is reminding us that there oneness in all things, and that we are not separate from our surroundings. The inspiration for such expression comes from everyday truths, moments of introspection as well as reality. Jesse's color palette is based on instinct rather than representational or realistic values, which channel such artists as Henri Matisse, Paul Gaugin, and Georges Braque. Through his work, Jesse Xavier Ruiz pushes the boundaries of subjective perspective, to prompt an emotional experience from his viewer.
